Go to Larvae Guide: Introduction and Family List
I have a large collection of reef fishes from the past twenty-five years. Virtually all have been preserved and stored in ethanol, therefore the otoliths remain intact (formalin dissolves otoliths) and the tissues are available for DNA studies. The vast majority are small: juveniles or larvae. As of now, most are Caribbean, but my Eastern Pacific and Indo-Pacific collections are growing.
The list is stored as a Microsoft Excel file (MSAccess pending) and should be downloadable if you have a recent version of MS Office. I will be building the file incrementally, so updates should be frequent. The inventory will be stored as a .xls file named collections 207 (for the Feb. 2007 update). The name will change as the file is updated. Of course, Microsoft compatibility issues will be a pain- but I am working on it.
I am entering them in chronological order for Panama fish, starting in 1980- but adding collections from elsewhere from most recent back... larval fishes are still in code, but I will convert that soon....
a MS Excel version updated Feb. 2007; any questions, please e-mail me...
